The wood chips are produced using recycled or organic materials. They’re intended to eventually decompose. They don’t know that you do not want wood chunks, but you want more of nature. It’s not like anything is being taken off in nature. Nature is a place in which everything is thrown to earth. It’s not a problem if you just follow the natural pattern. When you cut off oxygen, the process of decomposition produces a pleasant scent it. Do not like the musty and slimy scent. The best wood chips are aged that will allow for faster degradation. As it comes right down to the roots you are going to want to put pine needles down. Mulch helps to hold in the moisture. The same applies if you perform hot compositing. It’s just speeding this process. It’s not an attempt to be against the natural process. The goal is to collaborate together with nature.
